Echo Hawk & Olsen is pleased to announce its successfulrepresentation of the Manzanita Band of the Kumeyaay Nation in obtainingapproval from the Indian Health Service (IHS) for a Public Law 93-638healthcare program serving Tribal citizens and other eligible patients in SanDiego County.
The approval resulted in the execution of the Tribe's IndianSelf-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA) Contract and AnnualFunding Agreement, effective October 1, 2026. Through this agreement, the Tribewill assume responsibility for administering a range of healthcare servicesunder Tribal management, furthering its commitment to self-determination andlocal control of healthcare delivery.
Echo Hawk & Olsen worked closely with Tribal leadership and IndianHealth Service officials throughout the negotiation and approval process,assisting with contract development, service delivery area issues, facilityapproval requirements, and other federal regulatory matters.
This milestone represents an important step in expanding triballydirected healthcare services and demonstrates the continuing value of Tribalself-governance under the Indian Self-Determination and Education AssistanceAct.
